A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled evaluation of weekly etaquine for chemo-suppression of Plasmodium falciparum in semi-immune adults living in the Kassena-Nankana district of northern Ghana

OBJECTIVES

1.      To determine the chemosuppressive efficacy of weekly Etaquine at a range between 31 and 250 mg in preventing Plasmodium falciparum parasitemia compared to placebo and secondarily to mefloquine in subjects semi-immune to malaria.

2.      To establish the minimum effective prophylactic dose of weekly Etaquine and assess the tolerability of that dose
